I’m Laura Silver, editor and writer, and I love words. I’ve been working with them in one way or another for more than twenty years. Give me your words and I’ll help you make them elegant, economical, and crystal clear. Or, if you prefer, let me say it for you as writer, copywriter, or coauthor. I work with corporations, nonprofits, and independent authors. I look forward to working with you!
In my twenty-plus years of taming the written word, I’ve edited museum catalogues and ephemera, novels, cookbooks, creative nonfiction/memoirs, and national and regional magazines; produced exceptionally engaging, effective, and accessible articles, newsletters, press releases, programs, and brochures; and, as a publicist and media-relations specialist, I have a proven track record with placements in local and national media. My nonfiction specialties include art and design, health care/medicine, and cookbooks, but I consider myself a generalist and I enjoy any opportunity to explore new topics. If you’d like to see samples of my written work, please visit my online portfolio.
I started my career as a magazine editor in New York (McCall’s and Woman’s Day), and was managing editor at U.S. Art magazine in Minneapolis. Before starting my own business in 1998, I worked in corporate communications at the Minnesota Opera and HealthPartners, a nonprofit HMO.
My B.A. degree in English (with an art history minor) is from Oberlin College.
